About

The New York Times is not unique among media outlets in manufacturing consent for war, for exploitation, for genocide. It is, rather, exemplary. The Times’ reputation for liberalism, for rigor, for non-partisan independence is precisely what makes it so dangerous, because it hides what it really is: a publication that exists to serve the interests of U.S. imperialism. The New York Times is a failed institution that serves only the powerful and the morally lazy. By refusing to name the perpetrator—the Israeli occupation forces—of the deadliest war on journalists in history, the editorial board of Times has shown that they do not even serve their own profession. By shaping its coverage in accordance with Israeli state dictates and Zionist threats, the executives of the Times have become not only complicit in, but accountable for, the slaughter of Gaza.

Take Action

  • Boycott - don’t visit, don’t engage. That means just like any product complicit in Zionist settler-colonialism, we do not buy it, we do not use their recipes, play their games, or engage with their social media.

  • Divest - we do not write for, contribute to, or interview with the New York Times - no exceptions.

  • Unsubscribe - if you currently have an account with the NYT, that’s great because this is your chance to unsubscribe and let them know why they’re losing thousands of former subscribers just like you! You can use WAWOG’s pre-written templates to make this extra easy.

  • Make Your Voice Heard - amplify the campaign on social media and wheatpaste using WAWOG’s “They Can’t Kill the Story” posters. Check out this guide to wheatpasting if you haven’t done it before - it’s easy, fun, and visible!
